UMD track & field start strong in opening weekend

Over the weekend the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s and women’s outdoor track & field teams opened their outdoor season at the Wartburg Outdoor Select in Waverly, Iowa.

At the conclusion of the event the women finished in 10th place and the men in 9th.

The Bulldogs also had a pair of fist place finishes in the men’s shot put and women’s 4x100m relay.

NSIC All-Conference Performer, Colton Kostynick landed a throw of 16.56M to claim top spot in shot put, his first of the year.

While in the 4x100m relay the tandem of Megan Gilles, Lindsey Root, Kate Fitzgerald, and Emily Anderson recorded an outstanding time of 48.45 to finish in first place.
