The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) softball team swept the University of Mary to end their season on Friday, winning game one 11-0 and game two, 4-1.

In game one, the UMD bats came alive immediately, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first and three runs in the bottom of the second to take a commanding 7-0 lead. In the 4th, UMD would put up another four runs, which summoned the mercy rule. During the match, senior pitcher Lauren Dixon threw her 800th career strikeout as a Bulldog.

In game two, UMD scored one run in each of the first three innings. With a Maddy Walsh pitched strikeout, the Bulldogs broke the program record for single season strikeouts with 340.

The Bulldogs now await their first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) tournament opponent, who they will play on Wednesday. UMD closed out their regular season 39-14 overall and 20-8 in NSIC play.
