The UMD softball team was off to a roaring start to Sunday, beating Minnesota State Mankato 6-2 in game one of a doubleheader, but eventually fell 5-0 in game two.

In game one, the Bulldogs put up four runs in the bottom of the first to jump out to an early lead, thanks to a grand slam by Elle Potts.

Potts wouldn’t be done though, as she smacked her second home run of the day in the fifth inning to extend UMD’s lead, and eventual win.

In game two, the UMD bats were silenced, as they only accrued two hits the entire game.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday against St. Cloud State.
