On Wednesday the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) announced Forrest Karr as their next Director of Athletics.

He takes over for Josh Berlo who stepped down from the role this June after serving in it since 2013.

Karr has worked in collegiate athletics for 20 years spending 17 of them as an athletic director. Since 2012, he has served as the Director of Athletics at Northern Michigan University (NMU).

According to a release by UMD, during his time at NMU Karr started five NCAA Division II programs (women’s golf, men’s swimming and diving, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, and women’s wrestling).

Prior to NMU, Karr served as Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation for the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

The former Notre Dame men’s hockey standout will now oversee UMD’s 16 NCAA programs.

UMD is hosting an introductory press conference with Karr on Thursday. For the full release, Click Here.
