UMD men’s hockey stifles Miami (Ohio) in 3-1 victory

The UMD men’s hockey team seems to have a different feel lately, as the Bulldogs beat the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks on Saturday night, 3-1.

The win gives the Bulldogs five points on the weekend, including Friday’s 3-3 tie.

Neither team could get the puck into the back of the net in the first period, but Blake Biondi changed things in the second when he net the 25th of his career.

Just a minute later, the Bulldogs skated out an extra man on the ice and it was Ben Steeves who scored to extend the UMD lead to 2-0. Steeves scored three goals in regulation this weekend.

The Redhawks would then come back and score a goal, and what looked like the equalizer, but it was waved off, preserving the UMD lead.

With just seconds left on the clock, Luke Loheit made an empty net goal, pushing the total to 3-1.

The Bulldogs are next in action on December 28th against Northeastern.
