UMD men’s hockey flies past Air Force to finish third in Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off

On Friday the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey team would fly past the United States Air Force Academy 4-1 to finish third in the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.

The Air Force scored first on a first period power-play, but 15 seconds later Carter Loney would tie it up for UMD. Ben Steeves gave UMD the 2-1 lead in the second period with a power-play goal. Then Luke Johnson would make it 3-1 in the third with Steeves adding an empty netter.

Goaltender Zach Stejskal ended the game with 33 saves.

The Bulldogs improve to 6-9-4. They next battle St. Thomas for an exhibition match January 6 in St. Paul. They return to AMSOIL Arena for regular season play January 12 hosting Colorado College.
