UMD goalie great Maddie Rooney inks deal with PWHL Minnesota

Yet another former Bulldog has inked a deal with the Professional Women’s Hockey League’s (PWHL) Minnesota franchise.

On Tuesday goaltender Maddie Rooney agreed to a two-year deal. The Duluth native was a Bulldog from 2015-2020, and made the second-most saves in a single season with 1,013 in 37 games.

Rooney also backstopped the 2018 U.S. Olympic team in one of the greatest games in U.S. women’s hockey history making 29 saves to help the U.S. win their first Olympic gold medal since 1998.
