Snow crews were hard at work clearing all that slush off Malosky Stadiums turf in preparation for the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) football’s first spring practice on Monday. Where the team was back in cleats and on the field for the first time since November.

“Whenever you start the official first spring practice of the year, it gives an opportunity to get the next year’s team in place and have these guys start working towards a goal. We’ve had a really good off season thus far, and these guys work for days like today. They have an opportunity to get out here and actually play football,” said head coach Curt Wiese.

UMD’s spring schedule will consist of practice at 2:00 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with another practice at 9 a.m. on Saturday mornings.

“Make sure that we’re all working together for the same goal. For the younger guys, it’s a great time for them to get the experience they need, then get reps during the fall. So get those reps and get on the same page with the older guys. I feel that we’re strong top to bottom,” concluded senior o-line man Justin Hull.

The teams spring game is set for 5:30 p.m. at home, April 21st.
