The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) football team started the 2022 season with a 31-21 win at home last Thursday over Southwest Minnesota State University.

On Saturday the Bulldogs will take to the road for the first time this season. With over a week in-between games UMD made sure to capitalize on those extra practices to prepare for Minnesota State University-Mankato.

“As the staff you have the opportunity to prepare for an extra day,” head coach Curt Wiese said. “We came out Sunday in a helmets practice and did some walkthrough and some preparation for Mankato. A lot of that is, give them guys a little bit of a breather after fall camp, getting as healthy as we can be to focus on today, like a normal week for us.”

Their last matchup against the Mavericks was UMD’s 2021 home opener, where the Bulldogs came out with a 30-10 win.

Kickoff in Mankato Saturday is at 6 p.m.
