The sixth ranked University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team is bulldozing through the second half of their season. They haven’t dropped a game since December 2 against Ohio State University, and now boast a seven game unbeaten streak.

Sweeping Bemidji State University last weekend, the Bulldogs will work to carry that momentum to St. Thomas University this weekend. They last met in early December with UMD winning in game one 8-1, and game two ending in a 1-1 tie with the Tommies winning the shootout.

“That was a bitter taste in all of our mouths,” UMD junior defender Nina Jobst-Smith shared. “I think it motivated us in ways that we weren’t really sure it would and coming back on the second half we’ve been on fire.”

“We’re never going to settle for average,” head coach Maura Crowell stated. “Sometimes you need a wake up call. You got to just get a shake up once in a while and it wasn’t a loss luckily, it was a tie, and it did the trick.”

UMD (17-6-1) visits the Tommies (7-16-1) for a Saturday/Sunday series with puck drop set for 6 p.m. then 2 p.m. in St. Paul.
