Thomson’s grand slam rockets UWS softball to sweep over Northland

The University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) softball team earned a regular season home finale sweep Tuesday downing Northland College 10-2 then 17-5 in a doubleheader at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex. Both games concluded in five innings.

In game two Zoe Thomson hit a grand slam, for four of 11 runs in the third inning, to take a 13-2 lead over the LumberJills.

Thomson finished the day with two runs, five hits, and seven RBI.

The Yellowjackets improve to 26-7 overall and 16-3 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play. Next they trek to UW-Stout for a non-conference doubleheader Thursday. They close out their regular season Saturday visiting Bethany Lutheran College.
