The 2023 Head of the Lakes Fair in Superior will run through Saturday and feature two fight night events. The first was a pro wrestling match Thursday and the next will be MMA fights on Saturday.

Saturday fighters from the Northland and beyond will battle in the ‘MMA Beatdowns’. It will mark the 39th event Superior based promoter Robert Mrotek will put on.

“I’m really excited about all of the matchups, especially the last five. The last five could be a main event fight pretty much anywhere in the Midwest. They’re really good fights, three of them in the center are title fights, and there’s some of the top competition in the Midwest.”

There are 16 MMA fights including three title fights. Two featured fighters are Wisconsin’s own Andy Carlson and Darren Hamilton.

The main event starts at 6 p.m. at the Superior Curling Club. Pre-fight events kickoff at 5 p.m. For ticketing information, Click Here.

The big fair fights started Thursday night with Midwest All-Star Wrestling. The featured competitor was former WWE superstar Erik ‘Redbeard’ Ruud of Minneapolis.

Ran by Ely native David Amitrano Midwest All-Star Wrestling is the only Native American owned pro company in Minnesota. Proceeds from Thursday’s event went towards the Head of the Lakes United Way.
