Superior Showdown: UWS, CSS men’s hockey fall on day one

The puck was dropped on the fifth Superior Showdown at Wessman Arena on Thursday.

Opening the action was the College of St. Scholastica (CSS) men’s hockey team who fell to Marian 2-1. Nathan Adrian scored the sole goal for the Saints in the third period, while Jack Bostedt made 27 saves in net.

In the later game the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) men would fall to Gustavus Adolphus College 3-1. Colton Friesen netted the lone goal for the Yellowjackets, while goalie Myles Hektor made 13 saves.

UWS (9-5) will play CSS (5-4-1) for third place Friday at 3 p.m. back at Wessman Arena. The championship game is set for Friday at 7:05 p.m.
