The Superior City FC women’s soccer team are a high level pre-professional squad who this season will be competing in the UPSL, the country’s largest Division 4 soccer league.

They are entering their first ever year as a program and on Sunday they made their first steps in getting their opening match roster ready, holding tryouts at the Marcovich Wellness Center in Superior.

“There’s never been a girls pre-professional program in the history of the Twin Ports, so we’re really excited about that. To give these UMD, Northland College, UWS, Saint Scholastica, and LSC girls a chance to play soccer at a higher level,” said General Manager Kaden Bergman.

The tryout consisted of over 25 women, brining together some of the best talent in the Northland.

“There are expectations for sure that we compete in this league. A lot of teams are coming from the cities are going to be comprised of D1 players. We have some of our D2 players and D3 players, so we will be a little bit of a underdog. So we’re really excited and we think we can really fight for a championship spot this year,” added Bergman.

The season is set to begin on May 13th, with home games being played at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex in Superior.
