At Lambeau Field this week the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association kicked off their InSideOut initiative on Tuesday.

Superior High School Athletic Director Ella Olson attended the launch and is excited the program is catching on.

“I challenge my coaches every day: you’re getting to know a little bit more about your players as humans. What are their interests, what do they like, what don’t they like, how do you coach them the best way,” Olson shared. “So this InSideOut is just purpose driven leadership, transformational statements, how are you making the world a better place as a coach?”

Starting in Colorado and Texas in 2005 the InSideOut Initiative has now spread to 20 states.

Olson said it’s important for the increasingly intense culture of high school sports.

“There’s a lot more pressure on our kids. There’s a lot more pressure to be the best of the best and that’s just students in the culture we live in right now. Our job is not to develop the best of the best athletes, it’s to develop the best of the best humans.”

Olson anticipates the program to be increasingly implemented in Superior by the fall.
