Backstopping the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team to a 2-0 win over St. Cloud State University (SCSU) Saturday Emma Soderberg earned her 20th career shutout and Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Goalie of the Week honors.

This is her fourth honor this season.

Soderberg tallied 35 saves on 36 shots faced over the weekend, staying perfect in a shootout Friday. UMD officially tied the Huskies 1-1 that night, winning the shootout.

Saturday’s shutout is Soderberg’s league-best ninth this season, and she now holds more in her career than any active NCAA skater. The graduate student is also now tied the all-time program record at UMD.

Tying, then beating, number 12 SCSU the Bulldogs slipped one spot to number eight in the latest USCHO poll.

Their regular season series finale is this weekend at Bemidji State University.
