Rock Ridge girls basketball can't hold off Alexandria in Class AAA state quarterfinals

On Wednesday the Rock Ridge girls basketball team fell 67-50 to third seeded Alexandria Area in the Class AAA state quarterfinals at Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis. This marked Rock Ridge’s first state tournament appearance since becoming a co-op two seasons ago.

The Wolverines trailed just 27-24 at halftime, but Alexandria would outshoot them 40-26 in the second half to advance to the semifinals.

Anna Westby led Rock Ridge with 20 points and 15 rebounds, while Lexi Lamppa added 17 points. The Cardinals’ MaCee Linow and Lauren Beyer each tallied 21 points.

Rock Ridge will next face Totino-Grace in the Consolation semifinals. Tip-off is set for Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia University in Saint Paul. For the full Class AAA bracket, Click here.

Also on Thursday, No. 2 Mountain Iron-Buhl will tip-off their Class A quarterfinal against Walker-Hackensack-Akeley at 3 p.m.
