Rock Ridge basketball tips-off first games in brand new gym
A historic night tipped off on the Iron Range Friday evening.
The brand new Rock Ridge High School in Eveleth hosted their first official events: a girl’s and boy’s basketball double header.
The matches marked the Wolverines’ only games in the new gym this season.
First the Rock Ridge girls bested Two Harbors 90-58 to improve to 15-9 on the season.
Next up was a battle of brothers. Hibbing boy’s basketball, led by head coach Tom Aune, took on Rock Ridge coached by his brother Spencer Aune. They also each have sons on their rosters, Casey Aune at Rock Ridge and Ethan Aune on the Bluejackets.
The Wolverines would claim the victory winning 92-71 to improve to 18-5.
