Prep Volleyball: Cloquet, Grand Rapids & Esko earn section championship berths
The Cloquet, Grand Rapids, and Esko volleyball teams each earned section semifinal wins Wednesday to advance to the championship games.
In Section 7AAA, Cloquet downed Hermantown 3-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-18, 25-13). In Grand Rapids the Thunderhawks beat North Branch 3-1 (25-13, 25-18, 29-31, 25-21) with Braya Laplant surpassing 2,000 career set assists.
Grand Rapids and Cloquet will battle for the 7AAA title Saturday in Hermantown at 1 p.m.
In Section 7AA, Esko shut down Greenway 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-12) and Rush City blanked International Falls 3-0 (25-11, 25-9, 25-19) improving to 26-1.
Esko and Rush City will serve up the 7AA championship game Saturday in Hermantown at 6 p.m.
