Prep Hockey: Grand Rapids/Greenway girls, Superior boys see playoff roads end

On Thursday the Grand Rapids/Greenway girls and Superior boys hockey teams saw their playoff runs come to an end.

The No. 5 Superior boys hockey team fell 4-1 to No. 4 Eau Claire Memorial in the WIAA Division 1 quarterfinals. Lucas Williams scored the Spartans’ sole goal on a power-play in the second period to tie the game 1-1. The Abes scored once in the first, once in the second, and twice in the third period, including an empty netter, to secure the 4-1 win. For the full box score, Click here.

Superior closes out their season with a 8-12-3 record.

At Fogerty Arena in Blaine, No. 2 Grand Rapids/Greenway (GRG) fell in the Section 7AA championship game to No. 1 Andover 8-1. Mercury Bischoff scored GRG’s sole goal in the third period. Andover scored twice in the first, three times in the second, and three times in the third. For the full box score, Click here.

This was the second season in a row the Huskies stopped the Lightning from entering the state tournament. They close out their season 17-10-1.
