It was an incredibly busy day on the prep ice on Saturday, including overtime wins by the Duluth Northern Stars and Duluth East, an entertaining win for the Superior girl’s team, and a loss by the Hermantown boy’s.

Starting with the Northern Stars, they scored one time in each period en route to a 4-3 overtime win over Blaine.

Ellie Marciniak scored both the first goal of the game and the game winner, while Jessie Paulson and Lucy Bell both added one.

Superior was in action today as well, and behind another electric showing with multiple goals from Autumn Cooper, the Spartans skated to a 3-1 win over Hudson.

The Northern Stars and Superior battle it out on Tuesday.

To the boy’s side, Duluth East edged Rock Ridge 4-3 in overtime, and there was plenty of scoring, as each period saw a goal from each team.

In the first period, Duluth East’s Caden Cole found the back of the net, and Rock Ridge’s Levi Flatley followed suit knotting the game up at 1-1.

In the second period, Can Carlson of Rock Ridge scored just 30 second into the period, but East’s Brody Olson scored to make it 2-2.

In the third, Carlson did the trick again, but Wyatt Peterson would not only tie the game at 3-3, but win it for the Greyhounds in overtime.

Rock Ridge will look to bounce back against Cloquet/Esko/Carlton on Tuesday while Duluth East takes on Hopkins.

Finally, the Hermantown boy’s hockey team fell to White Bear Lake, 3-2.

Hermantown’s Bode Madill found the back of the net first, putting the Hawks up 1-0, but White Bear Lake was with the Hawks every step of the way, adding their own.

They would add two more before Hermantown answered, when River Freeman scored late in the third period, but it would end up being too late, and the Hawks would fall for their second straight Saturday.

They’ll look to bounce back against Superior on Tuesday.
