Prep Football: Esko topples Duluth East, Rock Ridge wins first game on new turf

On Thursday day one of the 2023 prep football season kicked off in Minnesota.

Esko would topple Duluth East 63-6 in Duluth. Minnesota Gopher commit Makoi Perich would score the first touchdown of the game for Esko in the first quarter. Next, Esko (1-0) hosts Proctor for their home opener Friday, September 8 and Duluth East (0-1) will visit Hibbing for their road opener Friday.

Rock Ridge shut out Hibbing 38-0 in their first game on their brand new turf at Raduenz Field. The Wolverines hosted a dedication for their new field prior to the game. Ryan Herberg scored the first touchdown for the Wolverines. Next, Rock Ridge (1-0) will host North Branch September 8 and Hibbing (0-1) hosts Duluth East for their home opener.
