Prep boys hockey: Proctor shuts out North Shore, Duluth Marshall & Denfeld skate to tie

In prep boys hockey on Thursday, Proctor earned a big home win over North Shore, while Duluth Marshall and Duluth Denfeld’s crosstown clash ended in a tie.

In Proctor, the Rails rolled past North Shore winning 8-0. Wyatt Mineheine earned a hat-trick, while Tanner Ross scored two goals. In net, AJ Reyelts made 15 saves for Proctor, while North Shore’s Zach Bentler put up a massive 50 save performance.

The Rails improve to 18-6 with their sixth straight win, and close out their regular season next Thursday, February 15 hosting Northern Lakes. North Shore (10-10-3) hosts International Falls Tuesday for their regular season home finale.

At the Essentia Duluth Heritage Center, Duluth Denfeld and Duluth Marshall skated to a 2-2 tie. The first period ended scoreless, then the Hunters put two away thanks two Cory Backstrom and Nolan Harju. Max Berrisford then scored for the Hilltoppers to make it 2-1 Denfeld after two. In the third period, Pacey Adduono scored the game-tying goal for Marshall. Overtime ended scoreless to complete the 2-2 tie.

Marshall goaltender Kaenan Smith recorded 42 saves, while Denfeld’s Connor Doyle had 33.

Denfeld (10-12-2) finished their regular season visiting Greenway Feb. 15. Duluth Marshall (14-8-2) closes out their regular season Tuesday visiting Duluth East.
