Prep Basketball: Hermantown boys top Duluth Marshall despite Johnson's 2,000th point, Hilltopper girls best Cloquet
On Thursday the Hermantown boys basketball team defeated Duluth Marshall, while the Duluth Marshall girls basketball team picked up a win over Cloquet.
In Hermantown, the Hawks defeated Duluth Marshall 96-84 rebounding from their first loss in eight games. During that game, Hilltoppers’ junior Brooks Johnson tallied 50 points and recorded his 2,000th career point.
Hermantown improves to 12-6 and next hosts Grand Rapids Thursday, February 1. Duluth Marshall (8-8) hosts North Woods Friday at 7:15 p.m.
At Duluth Marshall, the Hilltopper girls earned a 77-73 victory over Cloquet to improve to 11-7 overall. Marshall next visits International Falls Saturday, while the Lumberjacks (10-8) host North Branch on Saturday.
