Northwestern volleyball rallies to top Hayward in five sets

After dropping the first two sets, the Northwestern volleyball team would rally to knock off Hayward 3-2 in a Heart O’ North Conference clash in Maple on Thursday.

The Hurricanes took both sets one and two 25-23, before the Tigers would come back to win 25-11, 25-14, 15-8.

Early in the fourth set, Northwestern senior setter Brinley Tonn notched her 1000th career assist. She led the night with 33. The Tigers were also led by Kayla Paulsen with 17 kills and Shelby Hessel with 30 digs.

Northwestern is now 8-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play. They’re back in action Saturday at the Unity Invitational.
