The Duluth Area Family YMCA’s downtown branch was the stage for showcasing top handball talent for the fifth annual Northshore Handball Tournament which wrapped up Sunday.

The free to the public competition drew in athletes from across the Midwest, featuring holders of national and regional titles.

“It’s pretty laid back and a lot of fun to just kind of get to hang out with the guys and do what we love. It’s a good time that you got to stay in shape for and got to put the work in to be where these guys are, competition level wise,” said participant Anthony Macias.

Some of the competitors include defending champion Luke Sandy from Fargo, ND and two other returning champions: Dave Schiller of Minneapolis and Quinn Foley from Woodbury.

There was also two introductory clinics for those interested in learning the game.
