No. 8 UMD women’s hockey sees season end in NCAA Regional Final

On Saturday, the No. 8 University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team saw their season come to an end after they suffered a 9-0 loss to No. 1 Ohio State University (OSU) in the NCAA Regional Finals in Columbus, Ohio.

The Buckeyes scored 22 seconds into the game, and never let up the gas. The score read 3-0 after the first period, 7-0 after the second period, and two more goals were scored in the third for the 9-0 Ohio State final.

Olivia Mobley recorded two goals and one assist, while Hannah Bilka scored two goals for OSU. In net, UMD goaltender Ève Gascon made 27 saves in 47 minutes of play. Hailey MacLeod made three saves in just under 13 minutes of play in the second period. OSU’s Raygan Kirk made 16 saves.

This marked the Bulldogs’ fourth straight NCAA Regional Final/Quarterfinal appearance. They finish their season with a record of 21-14-4.
