No. 7 UMD women’s hockey falls in WCHA Final Face-Off semifinals to No. 1 Ohio State

UMD women's hockey sweeps St. Cloud.
On Friday the seventh ranked University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team fell in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Final Face-Off semifinals to number one Ohio State University 2-1 at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.
After a scoreless first period the Buckeyes put away two goals in the second to lead 2-0 after two frames. UMD pulled their goalie with under three minutes left in the game allowing Nina Jobst-Smith to score and put the Bulldogs on the board.
OSU would hang on to win 2-1 and advance to the Final Face-off championship Saturday. They’ll face the winner of Friday night’s No. 6 Wisconsin versus No. 3 Minnesota match.
OSU beat UMD 3-2 to claim the 2021-2022 national title last March at Penn State.
Additionally, during Friday’s game Naomi Rogge became the all-time career games played record holder at UMD with 166.
