No. 5 CSS men’s hockey strikes down Northland to improve to 9-0

CSS men's hockey was incredible on Friday night, scoring 8 goals in a 8-1 victory.

On Friday the College of St. Scholastica (CSS) men’s hockey team toppled Northland College 8-1 to improve to 9-0 on the season.

Mountain Iron native Jacob Seitz scored CSS’ first goal early in the first period. Then Northland’s Brandon Holt tied it up on the power play, ending the first period 1-1. The Saints would go on to score four goals in the second period and three in the third to win 8-1.

Seitz had two goals and one assist, while Arkhip Ledenkov also contributed two goals and one assist.

The win secured the Saints the non-conference series sweep over the Lumberjacks, having beaten them 6-2 in Ashland on Tuesday.

CSS is now the last team in the USCHO’s top 15 poll to boast a perfect record. They’re back in action Friday, December 29 battling the University of Dubuque in the Superior Showdown at Wessman Arena.

Northland (1-13) next visits the University of Wisconsin-Superior Saturday at 7 p.m. at Wessman Arena.
