The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team has been in the state of New York since last Thursday. Over the weekend they swept Long Island University to open their season 2-0.

Now the fourth ranked Bulldogs are preparing for a pair of early East Coast rematches this Thursday and Friday. First up will be St. Lawrence University (SLU), who UMD downed 4-3 in overtime during last season’s DI in DC Tournament in November.

“We’re going to have to play in our D-zone which is really good,” UMD women’s head coach Maura Crowell said. “I think SLU is creative and dynamic and opportunistic. We’ve seen that from them last year. Penn State obviously had a good start in game one against Wisconsin last weekend.”

“We have such a good D-squad this year. We’re excited about what we have on the backend and know that we’re all going to produce offensively,” fifth year defender Ashton Bell shared.

Puck drop against St. Lawrence is Thursday 5 p.m., then it’s Penn State Friday at 3 p.m. The Nittany Lions downed UMD last year 3-2, and are now riding a split series against the Badgers last week.
