Mandy Pearson shares keys for No. 22 UMD women's basketball to rebound

This week the 22nd ranked University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s basketball team is slated to pay Concordia St. Paul a visit on Thursday, then return home to host Winona State on Saturday.

Last Satuday, Dec. 9 the Bulldogs lost a road game at Southwest Minnesota State University just 86-80 to now sit 7-2 overall.

UMD head coach Mandy Pearson said, to get back on track, they’ll need to implement solid transition defense and find ways to rebound at Concordia, then study up on changes at Winona.

“Winona has changed their defensive scheme, they really pack it in the paint. We’ve got to get the basketball moving super early, move their defense around a little bit so we can get to the rim on offense. Then they really slow it down and score off the dribble by slowing down, get in the paint and bowling people down there a little bit. So we’ve got to be tough,” Peason concluded.

UMD tips off in St. Paul at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, then hosts Winona Saturday at 4 p.m. at Romano Gym.
