Local MMA fighter Alvin “Goozie” Hines is from Jungle Gym MMA here in Duluth. A location where he has been tirelessly training to get ready for his pro debut in Fargo this Saturday.

Goozie has had three prior amateur fights up until this point, all of which he won via strikes. However his go to technique is ground work, which he looks to use against his 2-0 opponent Phillip Latu.

“He’s definitely a standup guy. So that is going to be our game plan coming in. We’re going to take him down and then he’s going to be in real deep water. Or we’re going to stand up and bang, either way, we’re coming with the intentions to win so,” said Goozie when asked about what he looks to bring against Latu.

Still the support from not only his coaches, but also the Northland fighting community is what drives Goozie the most.

“I couldn’t ask for more support. It’s ridiculous how many people actually want to watch me, so that’s what pushes me so hard. Come Saturday, it’s going to be the beggining of history. It’s going to be good we’re really pushing it this time,” added Goozie.

The fight is the co-main event at Butler Arena in West Fargo, North Dakota beginning this Saturday the 21st at 8:00 p.m.
