Stromme, Moore named National Girls and Women in Sports honoree

On Saturday the 2023 National Girls & Women in Sports Day-Minnesota award winners were announced.

Hall of famer from the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) Karen Stromme was named special merit award winner.

Current men’s basketball head coach at Mesabi Range College in Virginia Tamara Moore was also a special merit award winner.

Moore is also a former WNBA player, Pro Wisconsin 2017 Hall of Famer and 2022 Wisconsin Legend Walk Honoree.

Stromme has held numerous positions at the University including coaching the UMD women’s basketball and golf teams.

Along with takin on the role as Ahletic Administrator, all of which tallied a grand total of 40 years.

Both women will be recognized at National Girls & Women in Sports Day – Minnesota celebration on Wednesday, February 1.

Which will be taking place at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul.
