The Duluth Huskies went historic on Thursday night as they donned 1998 throwback jerseys paying homage to the Duluth dukes on the 75th anniversary of a bus crash that took six lives in 1948.
They welcomed the Thunder Bay Border Cats to Wade Stadium for a two-game homestand.

Huskies cracked the game open with a power shot to the outfield by 2023 Northwoods League Great Plains All-Star Calyn Halvorson, creating a two-run homer that sent Brylan West and himself home.

Another All-Star, Brandon Compton, notched his own home run to deep centerfield as the Huskies took control of the game, 3-0.

The game was tied at four for a while, but the Huskies hung on to win 6-5. They will be back on the field against the Border Cats on Friday at 6:35 p.m.

Home runs were blasting out of the park on Thursday by Calyn Halvorson and Brandon Compton as they have been named participants in the All-Star Home Run Challenge. They’ll be joined as Huskies representatives by Michael Hallquist.

The Great Plains All-star Home Run Challenge will take place Monday, July 31, in Bismarck, ND. It’s the day before the Northwood’s League Great Plains All-Star game set on August 1st.
