Hunter Shepard wins AHL outstanding goalie award, CSS alum Carson Rose named SPHL MVP

This week two Northland college alums earned professional hockey honors.

Former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey captain, and Cohasset native, Hunter Shepard won the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Aldege “Baz” Bastien Memorial Award. It’s given to the AHL’s top goaltender of the year. During the 2023-2024 Shepard posted a 27-4-3 record and a .929 save percentage.

In the Southern Professional Hockey League, College of St. Scholastica alum Carson Rose won MVP. He led the league with 65 points, finishing the season with 30 goals.
