Grand Rapids volleyball falls in the state quarterfinals
Grand Rapids volleyball defeated Cloquet for the Section 7AAA title at Hermantown Thursday.
The No. 5 Grand Rapids volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to No. 4 Detroit Lakes in the Class AAA state quarterfinals Wednesday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
All three matches were close as the Thunderhawks fell 25-19, 25-22, and 25-19. Adrienne Venditto led Grand Rapids with nine kills and 16 digs.
The Thunderhawks (20-10) will next face DeLaSalle in the consolation semifinals Friday at 10 a.m. at the Xcel.
Ely serves up the Class A quarterfinals Thursday facing No. 2 Mayer Lutheran at 7 p.m. in St. Paul.
