Esko wins big, Hermantown flexes defense as both teams reach championship

Esko dominates Pierz wire to wire, advances to 7AAA championship

Esko Football looks as dominant as ever, crushing Pierz on Saturday 56-8.

On Saturday, Esko punched their ticket to the 7AAA championship game after beating Pierz 56-8, while Hermantown advanced to the 7AAAA championship after a 10-6 win against Denfeld.

For Esko, they had their way in every aspect of the game. They scored on their first play from scrimmage, with a touchdown pass from Jacion Owens to Sam Haugen. Owens and Haugen connected later in the game as well.

Esko will face Pequot Lakes at Malosky Stadium for the 7AAA title and a ticket to the state tournament.

Hermantown edges Denfeld in defensive battle to advance to 7AAA championship

Hermantown's defense was good enough to get the job done against Denfeld on Saturday.

For Hermantown, they were in a much different game. With the score just 3-0 after halftime, they were able to find the end zone just in time for the win.

Their defense was a big help in the win, as they only allowed six points and have been tough to crack all tournament.

Hermantown will play again at Denfeld High School’s Walt Hunting Stadium at Marv Heikkinen Field for the 7AAAA championship against North Branch Area.
