Elle Potts solo shot lifts UMD softball past Minot State and into the NSIC title game

On Friday, the No. 3 University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) softball team shut out No. 7 Minot State University 2-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) semifinals at Bowden Field in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

A Julia Gronholz single in the bottom of the third scored Kat Burkhardt to put the Bulldogs up 1-0. Then in the fourth, Elle Potts blasted out a solo home run to take the 2-0 lead. From the circle, Lauren Dixon threw four strikeouts over seven innings pitched.

UMD returns to the NSIC championship game for the second straight year and will once again be battling Augustana University. The first pitch is set for Saturday at 12 p.m. For the full bracket, click here.

In 2023, the Bulldogs downed Augustana 9-0 to advance to the NCAA DII tournament.
