On Saturday, both Duluth East boy’s and girl’s soccer teams were defeated, with the boys falling to Minneapolis Washburn 2-0 and the girls to Wayzata, 7-0.

For the boys, it’s their first loss of the season and the first in which they didn’t score a goal. It was also Duluth East’s first home game of the season, as they were on the road for the first four games of the year, tying the first two and winning the next two.

On the girls side, goalkeeper Maggie Winesett was spectacular for the Greyhounds, allowing only one goal in the first half to a Wayzata team that has outscored their opponents 13-4 this season. Winesett’s play wouldn’t be enough though, as Wayzata’s offense was unmatched beating the Greyhounds 7-0.

The boys look to get back on the right track on September 7th at Bemidji, while the girls travel to Stillwater on September 9th.
