The Duluth Denfeld football team hosted their first combine of 2023 on Monday afternoon.

While finishing 3-6 last year they’re on the right track to success, having tallied just one win in the three previous seasons combined. The Hunters are also returning a large core of talents from 2022.

“I mean we’re just crazy athletic and have a really strong group of kids coming back,” head coach Erik Lofald said. “Seniors that had a lot of playing time last year and then juniors who were sophomores last year who got a lot of experience under underneath the lights.”

Also on Septmeber 8 Denfeld will officially rename their field. That will make this the first Hunters squad to kickoff at Walt Hunting Stadium at Marv Heikkinen Field.

“It means a lot because it’s going to be our last year here so it’s kind of cool that they’re renaming it. Hopefully we can give it a good record to be remembered by. We have a really good senior and junior squad, that’s how we’re going to win games this season,” senior quartereback Mace Brooks said.

The Hunters’ season opener in September 1 at home against Mora.
