Curt Wiese speaks about UMD football’s DII playoff ‘snub’

After a road win against #9 Minnesota State Mankato on Saturday, the UMD football team seemed poised to make the postseason.

However, on Sunday afternoon, their 11 week journey came to an end, as the 9-2 bulldogs were left out of the Division II playoffs. Head coach Curt Wiese says there’s no one to blame but themselves.

“We can point fingers at whoever we want. We had two losses that we left in somebody else’s hands. We had the opportunity not to do that. When you’re 9-2 and you leave it to somebody else, you take the chance that you won’t end up in the national playoffs. So I look at this season as a giant success.”

A point of contention for the Bulldogs was their strength of schedule. They defeated the bottom seven teams in the NSIC, but beat just one above the .500 mark, when they beat Mankato this past weekend.
