The College of Saint Scholastica (CSS) women’s soccer team had a taste of scrimmage action this weekend hosting Minnesota Morris.

Entering their second season in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) the Saints have padded their preseason with three scrimmages ahead of their September 1st opener.

“We’re playing an old conference foe Northland in our last one. So it will be a great opportunity for our freshmen to gain experience and for our returning to play players, to see where they’re at. For us to really put the pieces together so we can hit the ground running when we get to Texas,” said head coach Dave Reyelts.

“Since we’re playing like higher division teams playing a couple of DII. To have the coaches have a good idea of who’s going to be starting, who’s going to be playing, who their strongest people are on the field, who they want in,” added junior Ellie Keillor.

The Saints finished last year 4-5-2 in the conference.

They open this season with a two game trip to Texas. Their MIAC opener is set to be on the road at Gustavus Adolphus College September 14th.

“Right now we are playing as much as we can, getting used to everyone’s positions and trying to form that starting 11. It will definitely let us know what we need to work on and what we are doing well, and who is going to play where. So it is going to be awesome,” concluded midfielder Alexa Ickert
