The College of Saint Scholastica (CSS) volleyball team kicked off their 2022 season with their first practice on Saturday. Welcoming eight freshmen into the fold, brining back a team tradition of of working out on the shores of Lake Superior.

Using the event to be able to build not only endurance, but also chemistry within the team.

“We are really big with water workouts and take advantage of that magnificent lake we have out there. It hasn’t been easy to get into the lake this year, so we weren’t really sure. We ran and jogged a mile, then did a sand workout about 30 yards doing different things. Then we jumped in the water so it was awesome,” said head coach Dana Moore.

“It’s a tradition that Dana has kept on, usually we workout in the water but it was a little to wavy for that. So we just got to go under a little bit, but it felt really good to start the preseason off with that,” added senior captain Alcia Draper.

The Saints first scrimmage will be next Saturday August 27th, against rivals UW-Superior. With the first serve taking place at 9 a.m.
