The College of St. Scholastica (CSS) men’s hockey team is now considered the second best team in the nation in NCAA Division III.

After sweeping Northland College last week, winning 6-2 Tuesday and 8-1 Friday, the Saints improved to 9-0 and moved up three spots to number two in this week’s USCHO poll. It’s their highest ranking since the 2009 season.

They now only sit behind No. 1 Hobart College in New York boasting a 10-2 record.

Additionally, on Monday CSS senior forward Arkhip Ledenkov was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s (MIAC) Offensive Player of the Week. In two games last week he tallied seven points with three goals and four assists.

CSS is now off until December 29 when they battle the University of Dubuque in the Superior Showdown at Wessman Arena.
