CSS’ Boone, Helmer earn MIAC Cross Country honors

Tuesday the College of St. Scholastica’s (CSS) Calvin Boone and Maj-Lis Helmer were named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Athletes of the Week.
The juniors swept the St. Olaf Ole Opener Friday each finishing first in their 5k races; Boone with a final time of 15:38.5 and Helmer with a time of 18:43.2.
Boone’s victory was the second meet win of his collegiate career and the first for a Saints men’s cross country runner since 2021.
Helmer’s, a Duluth native and Duluth East alum, was also her second collegiate meet win.
