College men hockey: UWS men’s hockey gets the sweep over Northland College; CSS nabs win at home against Augsburg

University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets skated on the ice on Saturday as they went looking to break their three-game losing streak with a battle against Northland College. The Lumberjacks won the first of two games on Friday 3-1, and the Yellowjackets went searching for a win to split the series.

The Yellowjackets broke the ice first with a goal by MacGregor Sinclair in the first period, then Matt Francois and C.J. Walker netted a goal in the third period to help lift the Yellowjackets over the Lumberjacks, 3-0.

UWS will hit the ice again to finish out the regular season with a two-game road series against University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Friday, February 24th, and Saturday, February 25th.

College of St. Scholastic saints tied their first game on Friday against Augsburg at home 5-5 but won the shutout 1-0. The Saints were on a mission on Saturday to win over the Auggies.

The Saint found their way on the board first with a slip-and-slide goal by Arkhip Ledenkov, and they never looked back, winning 4-1. CSS scored three goals in the first period alone then their fourth goal at the 11-minute mark in the third period to finish the regular season at 16-6-3.

The Saints will get ready to play in the MIAC Playoff Semifinals on Saturday, February 25th at home. Game time and their opponent has not been released yet.
