College Hockey: Northland men top UWS to open WIAC quarterfinals, CSS women fall at home

The sixth seeded Northland College men’s hockey team scored three unanswered goals Friday to rally past the third seeded University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) 3-1 in game one of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) quarterfinals.

Chris Ishmael scored first for UWS in the first, then the Lumberjack’s Jack Craycroft tied it in the second. Brendan Charlton and Brock Weimer scored for Northland in the third period.

In Duluth the College of St. Scholastica women’s hockey team dropped their regular season home finale to Augsburg 6-2.

Kayla Kasel and Mariah Haedrich scored for the Saints in the first period.

CSS (8-15-1) closes out their regular season visiting Augsburg Saturday 4 p.m.
