Cohasset native, UMD alum Hunter Shepard earns win in NHL debut
On Wednesday night Cohasset, Minn. native, Grand Rapids and University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) hockey alum Hunter Shepard made his NHL debut.
He was called up from the AHL to start for the Washington Capitals in New Jersey.
Shepard would make 18 saves backstopping the Capitals to a 6-4 victory over the Devils, and his first NHL win. He played all 60 minutes finishing with a .818 save percentage.
Between the pipes for the AHL’s Hershey Bears last season he led them to a Calder Cup championship.
