Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys hockey halted by reigning state champs Mahtomedi

On Friday the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton (CEC) boys hockey team fell to the reigning Class A state champions Mahtomedi 4-1 at Northwoods Credit Union Arena in Cloquet.

Bobby Thornton scored the sole Lumberjacks goal on a power play to tie it 1-1 halfway through the first period. Goaltender Logan Sickmann made 28 saves for CEC.

The Lumberjacks entered the game ranked seventh in Class A and the Zephyrs (3-5) ranked sixth. CEC now sits 4-2 and next hosts Blaine at 3 p.m.
