#8 UMD women’s hockey strikes first, but ends in tie with #4 Minnesota

There was no winner at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis between the #8 UMD women’s hockey team and #4 Minnesota, as the two teams tied 1-1.

The game was off to a great start for the Bulldogs, as Mary Kate O’Brien net her fifth goal of the season to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage.

Neither team would be able to get anything else on the board until the second period, when a Gophers shot by Abbey Murphy snuck past Hailey MacLeod to knot the game up at 1-1.

For the rest of the game, the Gophers and Bulldogs were dead even, and in overtime, neither team could come out on top.

The Bulldogs are back on the ice to face the Gophers on Saturday at 2 p.m.
